One of the most talked about fight of the year, Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler is officially canceled. The fight which was set to take place at the UFC 303 on 29 June is now cancelled or postponed indefinitely. Now the question is: Will it ever happen?

Conor, who’s a notorious loudmouth on social media is surprisingly silent. And currently there is no update on the possibility of Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler fight. Or even Conor’s return to the UFC.

What If: Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler in WWE?

After the WWE-UFC merger, it was speculated that we might see a crossover event. And Chandler calling out Conor during the WrestleMania only gave the rumor more strength.
There is no news on this but if UFC-WWE decide to do a crossover, this will be a fight to remember.

Timeline of Events

Earlier, a media event in Dublin was called off at the last moment by the UFC. And multiple fans and analysts assumed that the fight might not go as planned. There were even rumors that UFC scouts are out to find an alternate to replace the Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler fight.

As per a recent report by MMA Hour’s Ariel Helwani, “I would say this fight is very much in limbo. I would say it’s hanging on and the UFC is working very, very hard right now to figure out a Plan B. The Plan B could be someone stepping in to fight Chandler, the Plan C could be a whole new fight.”

He added, “I found out, via multiple sources, that they are reaching out to people again. They are reaching out to managers, they are reaching out to fighters, as potential replacements, as a new fight, as backups, as someone stepping in for McGregor, or just as insurance. Just in case. All these things are in play.”

In the video, Ariel explained the developments of the past week.

He said, “On Tuesday, I reported that the UFC was sending out feelers, they were reaching out to fighters and managers to see who could possibly be available to either replace the fight — meaning two new fighters — or step in and replace one of the fighters involved to fight on this card.”

He added that there was no doubt that the fighter in question is Conor McGregor. Since, Michael Chandler is all set to fly to Dublin.

UFC confirms replacements

Last week, Helwani revealed that UFC has denied any changes to the plan and it was even reported that the news of UFC sending feelers was false. However, things are moving again (as per Helwani)

And now Dana White has confirmed that Potan vs Jiri will headline the UFC 303.
