Corey Anderson made a huge statement on Sunday when he knocked out rising Brazilian contender Johnny Walker via TKO in the first round.
Going into this fight, Anderson was the heavy underdog going into this fight. At 2:07 of Round 1, Anderson landed a freakish overhand right, which staggered Walker and then Anderson jumped all over Walker with combinations and then finished him as the referee stepped in to stop the fight.
After the fight, Corey Anderson jumped on the top of the cage where he was seen expressing his thoughts to UFC matchmakers. He was fired up even during the post-fight interview.
“There’s levels to this game,” he said. “I’ve been here 14 fights. The UFC, nobody give me my respect. I’m here in New York. I train here. You guys booed me. Let’s see you boo me now. Thank you for the love and the hate. We’re here, baby.”
Corey Anderson has been gunning for a title shot against Jon Jones for a while now and he even said that if he didn’t get what he wanted that UFC should consider releasing him.

However, Anderson gave a follow-up interview to MMAFighting where he said that the clickbait media took his words out of context.
“I have to clear that up. Media’s known for click-baiting and I think I know what reporter said that but he didn’t say the whole interview. The interview in the back they said ‘what do you want next?’ and I said I want a title fight. I want Jon Jones my next fight,” he said.
“Then they mentioned Dominick Reyes and I said 100 percent, Dominick Reyes has been doing his work, he’s put in his time. I wanted to fight him but he’s earned this fight, too. I’m in no rush to fight for the title right now,” he added.
“If Jon Jones wants to fight Dominick Reyes in December or January, that’s completely fine. I will take the winner of that. Then it went onto ‘but what if they try to take one of these new guys and bump them up in the rankings and put them in front of you — what if after Dominick Reyes, they push you to the back of the line again, what would you do?’ That’s when I said, if they’re going to do that to me, then release me,” he concluded.
