Cory Sandhagen was scheduled to fight former UFC lightweight champion, Frankie Edgar at UFC Raleigh on January 25. This was supposed to be Frankie Edgar’s bantamweight debut.

But Frankie Edgar fought Korean Zombie on short notice at UFC Busan and got knocked out in the first round and as a result got himself medically suspended for six-months. UFC was unable to find a replacement and as a result, Cory Sandhagen had to pull out of the fight.

MMA DNA was the first to report the news.

BREAKING. Cory Sandhagen will NOT fight at #UFCRaleigh on January 25th. There will be no replacement for Frankie Edgar. Sandhagen tells us he hopes to fight in March/April against either Marlon Moraes or Dominick Cruz,” MMA DNA reported.

Cory Sandhagen is now looking forward to fighting in March/April against either Marlon Moraes or Dominick Cruz.

With Henry The Hall Monitor still on his power trip and wanting to fight a guy that lost (I know it was close, but on paper Aldo lost), who’s next for me?
.
A No. 1 contender fight with Cruz or Moraes makes most sense – they would be great fights for fans to watch
.
Aljimain is hurt, and Yan is a fight that makes more sense down the road. Comment below and don’t be a douche – it’s almost Christmas,” Cory posted on Instagram.

The 27-year-old has won five straight fights in the UFC and currently boasts of a professional record of 12-1.

This is how the UFC Fight Night 166 card looks like:

  • Curtis Blaydes vs. Junior Dos Santos
  • Michael Chiesa vs. Rafael dos Anjos
  • Tony Gravely vs. Brett Johns
  • Hannah Cifers vs. Angela Hill
  • Jordan Espinosa vs. Alex Perez
  • Lina Lansberg vs. Sara McMann
  • Justine Kish vs. Lucie Pudilova
  • Arnold Allen vs. Josh Emmett
  • Bevon Lewis vs. Dequan Townsend
