Former UFC interim welterweight champion Colby Covington lashed out at the celebrities and athletes for their ‘vile’ comments against US President Donald Trump.
Earlier this week, Trump announced that he and his wife had contracted the Coronavirus. The announcement launched a shockwave throughout the world. However, some people clearly took the issue beyond limits making unnecessary claims.
Those comments obviously didn’t go well with Covington who is known for his close association with President Trump. ‘Chaos’ took to social media to fire shots at the “Slime of Hollywood” and “Woke Sports”. (via BJPENN.com):
Want to take a moment and thank the absolute SLIME of Hollywood and “Woke Sports” for their vile takes on twitter & reminding the silent majority why Nov 3rd is so important! @realdonaldtrump is all that stands between our freedom and the evil that wants to take it away!!!🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/j2apnBm4ju

The timeline of Trump and Covington’s friendship!
Covington has always been outspoken about his strong belief in Donald Trump’s political ideologies. It all started after he defeated Rafael Dos Anjos to become the interim champ at UFC 225 back in June 2018. Speaking in his post-fight Octagon interview, he expressed his wish to take the belt and place it on Donald Trump’s desk. Surprisingly, his wish came true when he was invited to the White House to meet Trump. (via MMAjunkie):
“WHEN THEY WALKED ME IN TO GO SEE TRUMP, I’D SEEN HIM AND WAS LIKE, ‘WHOA, MAN. IS THIS REALLY HAPPENING?’ I GOT THE BUTTERFLIES LIKE I’VE NEVER HAD BEFORE A FIGHT”, HE SAID. “HE DIDN’T HAVE TO SPEND AS MUCH TIME AS HE DID WITH US, AND HE LEGITIMATELY GAVE US 30 MINUTES – JUST (EXPLETIVE), TOLD US SOME FUNNY STORIES, HE LIKES CHICKS, HE LIKES WRESTLING, HE LIKES MMA. AND HE WAS JUST TELLING US STORIES AND JUST BEING A REGULAR GUY. HE’S DOWN TO EARTH. HE’S JUST A REGULAR GUY.”
Last year when Covington fought former champ, Robbie Lawler, Trump’s sons Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump were in attendance. They cheered for him as he defeated Lawler via a lopsided unanimous decision. Trump also tuned in for his fight against Tyron Woodley last month and gave him a phone call after his win.
