Yes, you read that right.
UFC Welterweight contender Alex ‘Cowboy’ Oliveira was injured in a bizarre grenade attack in his home country Brazil. Oliveira lost to Gunnar Nelson by a second round submission at UFC 231 in Toronto, Canada which resulted in a gruesome cut to Oliveira’s face which required 38 stitches.
Oliveira had gone to buy gasoline for his mother’s car, when he saw some members of his family involved in an altercation.“One guy came up and pointed a gun at my nephew’s face, and that’s when people started pushing each other,” Oliveira said. “They had machetes, knives, a grenade. They threw a grenade in my direction. Fragments flew to my leg and my foot.”

According to a media source, Alex ‘Cowboy’ Oliveira is fine now having suffered minor injuries.

Oliveira went to the local hospital to have a small surgery to remove the grenade fragments from his leg. Oliveira has recorded his statement about what happened to the local police officers in his hometown of Tres Rios, near Rio De Janeiro.
