After campaigning for four months and indulging in more than a few tweets, Donald Cerrone is informing us that he is no longer campaigning to fight Conor McGregor. According to his words, “The chase is over. It’s done.”

“We were supposed to fight in April, then July and just kept stringing it along, and I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m not going to wait. Let’s go.'” said Cerrone in an interview with MMA Junkie.

McGregor-Cerrone bout was actually close to happening, but just like many fights, talks couldn’t continue as egos came in between and bickering about placement on the card was a factor, and now Cerrone is reporting that he is done chasing after the McGregor bout.

Standout fighter Donald Cerrone’s next target is Al Iaquinta (14-4-1 MMA, 9-3 UFC). He agreed upon this fight before McGregor announced his short-lived retirement.

On the prospect of the fight actually happening in the future, Cerrone said the following :

“Who knows, man,” he said. “I’ll take it if it does, of course. If not, we’ll take whoever’s next. I love my job. I love fighting.”
