Former UFC women’s featherweight champion Cris Cyborg has publicly stated that her UFC contract is almost up and over and her next fight might be her last inside the octagon, that is unless she does not receive her title rematch with the current UFC women’s champ champ Amanda Nunes. While everyone is seemingly more focused on Cyborg’s future after her next fight, she has her eyes set only on her next opponent Felicia Spencer.
Cyborg in a recent interview given to MMA Fighting, discussed her UFC future. She said that she does not want to think ahead right now and is solely focused on successfully getting past her next opponent Felicia Spencer at UFC 240. Here’s what she had to say:
I’m happy that my next fight is in Canada, I have a lot of fans in Canada but never fought there before. I think it’s going to be a great fight. I know it’s the last fight fight in my contract, but, actually, I’m not thinking about that. I’m focused on one more fight in my career.
Every fight is different and we have to be prepared for several situations. This is MMA and I have to be ready for everything. I believe it’s going to be a good fight.
My story doesn’t end, of course. It will continue. Just like I’ve been in many promotions, I might continue fighting in the UFC… Right now I’m focused on my next fight, which is the most important thing for me at the moment.
