Cris Cyborg: Amanda Nunes buckles under pressure

UFC 232 will feature a co main event bout between the UFC women’s featherweight champion, Cris Cyborg and the UFC women’s bantamweight champion, Amanda Nunes. It is an incredibly historic fight particularly because it’s the first time a women’s MMA super fight is taking place between two champions inside the octagon. Cyborg has had a lot to say about her opponents, and while even though they belong to the same country, there is still plenty of bad blood between them. In a recent verbal attack aimed at Nunes, Cyborg stated that she believes Nunes has a tendecy to buckle under pressure.

Cyborg was recently in a conversation with noted combat sports journalist, Ariel Helwani of ESPN. During her chat with Helwani she told him that Nunes buckles when pressurised. Here’s what she had to say:

I look up her fights and then I watch against Valentina (Shevchenko) and Alex Daives, Cat Zingano. And all the other fights that she has won. One thing I have seen is that when she sees the girls, her opponents are not afraid of her. She is changing, her performance. Like when her opponents start to push her, like getting forward and hitting hard. She is changing in the fight. Like when you get her under pressure, she struggles.

Yes, yes. (On whether Nunes buckles under pressure). She looks very different then.

Below is her interview with Helwani:
