Cris Cyborg vs Sinead Kavanagh featherweight title fight set for Bellator 271

Bellator women’s featherweight champion Cris Cyborg is set to defend her title against Sinead Kavanagh at Bellator 271 event on November 12. Bellator 271 will take place at Bellator 271 from the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. The news was announced by Bellator president Scott Coker on “The MMA Hour”. Following her last UFC fight against Spencer, which was the last fight on her contract, UFC president Dana White announced that the UFC would not negotiate a new contract with Cyborg. This allowed her to immediately begin negotiations with other organizations.

Cris Cyborg

Cris Cyborg signed a multi-fight deal with Bellator MMA in September of 2019. In her first fight for the promotion, she fought Julia Budd for the Bellator Women’s Featherweight Championship on Saturday, January 25, 2020, in Inglewood, California at Bellator 238. She won the fight via technical knockout in round four. In the first defense of her title, Cyborg faced Arlene Blencowe at Bellator 249. She won the bout via second-round submission, earning the first submission of her MMA career.

Pioneering Fighter Cris Cyborg

In her second title defense, she fought Leslie Smith in the main event at Bellator 259. The fight was a rematch of their first fight in the UFC, which Cris Cyborg won by TKO. She went on the win the rematch by TKO in the fifth round of the fight. The fight was a tough one for Cyborg as she had to try her very best to take Smith out of the fight.

 Sinead Kavanagh

Sinead Kavanagh made her Bellator debut against Elina Kallionidou at Bellator 169 on December 16, 2019. She won the bout via unanimous decision. She is 4-4 in her last 8 fights in the Bellator. though the record doesn’t look that appealing hs is riding an amazing 2 fight winning momentum which will prove to be helpful for her thought fight coming up against Cyborg. In her last fight, she fought  Katharina Lehner at Bellator Milan 3 on October 3, 2020. She won the bout via unanimous decision. The fight was a dominant win for her and the confidence she must have got from that victory will help her in the title fight against Cris Cyborg.

The matchup against Cris will be a very tough one for her as this is the highest point of her fighting career and she is entering the toughest fight of her MMA career. The pressure will be on her while facing Cyborg as she knows the kind of power and ferocity Cyborg possesses.
