The UFC FIGHT NIGHT 205 event will be headlined by a heavyweight matchup between Curtis Blaydes and Chris Daukaus. The top heavyweight contenders will be headlining the fight night event which will take place on March 26, 2022, at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, United States. A light heavyweight bout between former KSW and UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jan Błachowicz and Aleksandar Rakic was anticipated to be the event headliner. But, Błachowicz withdrew due to an injury and the fight was removed from the card and will soon be rescheduled for further events. A women’s flyweight bout between Joanne Wood and Alexa Grasso will be the co-main event of this fight card.

Curtis Blaydes is no. 4 in the UFC heavyweight rankings. He has been a top contender in the UFC heavyweight division for a very long time. Blaydes made his promotional debut against Francis Ngannou on April 10, 2016, at UFC Fight Night 86. He lost the fight via TKO. He then racked up back-to-back wins over top UFC heavyweight contenders but then again lost a fight to Francis Ngannou by TKO. Curtis then again scored back to n back when before losing his momentum to Derrick Lewis. Curtis Blaydes in his last fight faced Jairzinho Rozenstruik on September 25, 2021, at UFC 266. Blaydes won the fight via unanimous decision.

Chris Daukaus has been on great momentum since joining the UFC. He is the no.9 ranked guy in the UFC heavyweight division. Chris Daukaus made his UFC debut on nine days’ notice against Parker Porter on August 15, 2020, at UFC 252. He won by stoppage in the first round after a series of punches and a knee-dropped Porter. He was then scoring back-to-back wins over top heavyweight guys. In his last fight, he faced Derrick Lewis on December 18, 2021, at UFC Fight Night: Lewis vs. Daukaus. He lost the fight via knockout in the first round.

The fight is an important matchup between Curtis Blaydes and Chris Daukaus. This matchup will change the dynamic of the heavyweight division as there is not a clear contender out to challenge the heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou. At UFC FIGHT NIGHT 204, Tom Aspinall defeated Volkov and has challenged Tai Tuivasa and the winner might be the next challenger for the title.

Curtis Blaydes will be having a basic game plan against Chris Daukuas. He will be trying to use his elite wrestling to nullify the striking of Duakaus. Chris is known for his boxing and striking picture. Out of 12 wins, 11 of his wins were from KO/TKO. Whereas  Curtis Blaydes’s last two wins have come of decision and he got that by taking his opponents down and controlling them on the ground and getting the decision win. It will be pretty interesting to see how Curtis will be taking Chris down while avoiding the punches coming his way from Daukaus.
