Dan Henderson thanked his UFC 139 opponent Shogun Rua after being their historic fight inducted into ‘Fight Wing’ of UFC hall of fame. Rua (25-10 MMA, 9-8 UFC) lost to Henderson (32-15 MMA, 9-9 UFC) that night at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif.

Henderson faced Maurício Rua on November 19, 2011, at UFC 139 for his third run in the UFC after defeating Fedor Emelianenko via KO at 4:12 of the 1st round. This was the last fight on Henderson’s Strikeforce contract. He holds a record of holding the titles in all major MMA promotions at that time other than the UFC.

Three years later, Henderson rocked Rua with an H-Bomb and earned a TKO victory in a rematch at UFC Fight Night 38. The result didn’t change much; Henderson, 47, retired from the sport in 2016 after a failed bid for the UFC middleweight title against Micheal Bisping.

Rua, 36, still continues to fight and is on a three-fight winning streak. He is to meet  Volkan Oezdemir in July at UFC Fight Night 134.
