UFC 241 featured an absolute barn burner of a co-main event as fan favorite Nate Diaz made his much anticipated return after three years to take former lightweight champ Anthony ‘Showtime’ Pettis at welterweight.
Diaz once again illustrated the fact that ‘ring rust does not matter’ as he outclassed #7 ranked Pettis for a lopsided unanimous decision. Diaz used a lot of clinch work including knees to nullify Pettis from throwing leg kicks and topped it off with his high quality ground game.
Diaz has had a history of misunderstandings with UFC President Dana White over his inactivity throughout the tenure of three years. However speaking in an interview, White agreed that Diaz is a ‘needle mover’ and that he has a nag of selling tickets.
“He is a needle mover now.” Dana White said of Nate Diaz.
That being said, Diaz took full advantage of his win and called out the hottest topic in MMA as of now, Jorge ‘Gamebred’ Masvidal for a gangster vs. gangster match up.
“Who wouldn’t want to see that fight?” White asked with a smile.
The fight certainly has fireworks written all over it.
