UFC 222 was left without a main-event after the UFC Featherweight champion Max Holloway pulled out due to a leg injury. There has been much hearsay regarding the PPV’s new main-event. The UFC are allegedly trying to put together a fight between Frankie Edgar and Brian Ortega as the new headliner. However, the rumour that has generated the most hype is the talk about Nate Diaz returning to the octagon to save the PPV. However, UFC president Dana White has quashed all hopes of Nate Diaz being in the main-event of UFC 222.

It had been reported by noted MMA journalist, Lance Pugmire that Nate Diaz is eager to return to the octagon to serve as the headliner for the March pay-per-view. UFC Featherweight Cub Swanson had also stated that he would be willing to fight Diaz on such a short notice at UFC 222. However, Diaz who last competed inside the octagon at UFC 202, is having troubles with the UFC in agreeing to a pay-rise for his fights.

Dana White was recently contacted by Los Angeles Times to enquire about a potential Diaz return to UFC 222. Though, the UFC president revealed that Diaz won’t be competing at UFC 222 and also went on to claim that the Stockton native isn’t interested in fighting anytime soon. Here’s what White told La Times:

“He [Diaz] doesn’t want to fight. We have made around five or six fights in the last six months and he has turned them all down. Alvarez, [Justin] Gaethje, [Edson] Barboza and [interim lightweight champion Tony] Ferguson multiple times.”

White’s statements have made it clear that the UFC haven’t reached an agreement with Diaz regarding his astronomical wage demands. It also warrants that Nate surely won’t be competing in the UFC for a while.
