Dana White recently opened up on Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov’s contribution towards his son, Khabib Nurmagomedov’s success in the combat world.

Dana White comments on Khabib’s father

Dana White was with three-time Super Bowl-winning wide receiver Julian Edelman on his podcast, when he was asked about Khabib Nurmagomedov and his father. White spoke his mind on the iconic father and son duo.

“His dad was his trainer growing up and trained the whole camp and everything else. His dad had a vision that Khabib would be the champion and when Khabib retired, Islam would come in and be the champion. Let me tell you what you want to talk about one of the greatest coaches in the history of the sport that is never talked about, Khabib Nurmagomedov’s dad. You think about what that guy built.”

Was Khabib just the start of a long list of fighters yet to come from their training camp?

Khabib was molded in his father’s vision from a very early age. The Eagle started training with his father in Combat Sambo from a very tender age. Abdulmanap had a very clear goal in front of him and that was turning his son into one of the best fighters in the world and it can be said that he has successfully accomplished his goal. Khabib’s success on the big stages has opened the door for several Dagestani as well as Russian fighters into the promotion.

Islam Makhachev followed Khabib’s footsteps and became the second fighter from their camp to become a UFC champion. It looks like Abdulmanap’s legacy is just getting started and his camp has a lot of great fighters in their camp getting ready to make a name for themselves on the ultimate fighting stage the UFC.

It seems like just a matter of days until Umar Nurmagomedov bursts onto the scene and if Umar manages to earn a champion status in the UFC like Khabib and Makhachev, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov’s training camp will be considered among some of the finest training camps in the world.

Dana White also opened up on how Khabibs’s decision to retire from the sport was influenced by his father’s death. Khabib may have achieved everything but none of it would have been possible without his father.
