The UFC President Dana White has now finally broken his silence on the futures of the promotion’s star-fighters Conor McGregor, the UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov as well as on that of Tony Ferguson. White, in particular, revealed that McGregor could fight in early 2020 and that too probably against the winner of the fight between Jorge Masvidal and his eternal rival Nate Diaz.
White revealed in a recent interview given to TMZ that while McGregor wanted to fight in December in Dublin, the UFC management wants him to compete in Vegas next year. Here’s what he had to say:
Early next year, yeah (on when Conor might fight). He wants (to fight in) Dublin, Ireland, but we got Las Vegas, Nevada. Yeah. Tony Ferguson is the fight that needs to happen (for Khabib Nurmagomedov), we have tried to make it four times, so hopefully, we can get it done this time. But that’s the fight that makes sense. And that can happen too (a super fight between Khabib and Georges St-Pierre). So we will see what happens with Tony and you know Tony’s had opportunities before that he did not take so if he doesn’t then you know I’d be interested in talking about GSP.
Yeah, that is possible too down the road (a Khabib-Conor rematch). I think Conor would fight somebody else before that. The Ferguson fight would also have to happen for Khabib. There are a lot of possibilities, so to sit here now and say who is going to fight who, I don’t know until this whole thing plays out. Masvidal and Diaz’s winner is in the mix too.
