Dana White has been facing slack from the mixed martial arts community for pitting Khamzat Chimaev against Nate Diaz for the upcoming UFC 279 headliner on 1st October and in his response, the UFC prez has advised them to keep their eyes away from the event.

In the wake of the announcement of the fight, many have raised eyebrows for making a fight between Chimaev, someone who is in his prime and Diaz, who is in the twilight of his career.

The Khamzat Chimaev vs. Nate Diaz booking for UFC 279 has not been well received by everyone.

From Leon Edwards saying that the management “f**ked up” on booking the fight, to commentators Dan Hardy and Daniel Cormier calling it an “execution” and a “mismatch”, many fans have also voiced their antagonism over this “unfair” fight and slammed Dana White, who was also recently criticized for his $250K surprise birthday gift to Kyle Forgeard, the co-founder of Canadian-American YouTube channel and entertainment company Nelk Boys, on his 28th birthday.

Dan Hardy and Leon Edwards can go to the movies that night: Dana White

However, White insisted during an interview with Yahoo Sports that he finds it funny when the top dog company is advised over making fights, and told the critics to turn their eyes away from the event and rather go to the movies if they’re not fond of Chimaev vs. Diaz on 1st October.

“I love when fighters, or other people, or anybody else, gives us advice on this incredibly successful business that we’ve built,” said White, “It cracks me up. So, I’m looking at [matching Diaz with] Francis Ngannou or Khamzat Chimaev, and a couple of other ones that were not good, either. I’m going to take Khamzat.”

“I can tell you this: Leon Edwards, Dan Hardy and anybody else who is out there yapping has never dealt with the Diaz brothers. It’s a very unique experience. It takes a very long f***ing time. We got through it and here we are. It’s a very popular fight that people want to see, that people like and everybody’s getting what they want. Dan Hardy and Leon Edwards don’t have to watch it. They can go to the movies that night,” the UFC prez added.
