UFC president Dana White has clarified a shooting incident that took place in ‘REBAR’ bar in San Antonio which allegedly may have involved a UFC fighter.
On June 14, five women and three men were injured in a shooting incident at a bar in San Antonio after a shooter was denied entry to a bar. The shooter was a part of the group that wasn’t allowed inside the bar because they were “inebriated”.
After being denied entry, one of the guys from the group said, “Don’t you know who I am? I’m a UFC fighter from California.”
San Antonio police chief, William McManus, said during a brief that the police is still looking for the suspects. He also stated that there were no fatalities during this incident and all the injured people are recovering and in stable conditions.
The police also said that after being denied entry, the shooter went back to his car to grab a long rifle and started shooting people.
“They are all in stable condition, the most serious was someone was hit in the back,” McManus said.
Dana White discusses San Antonio shooting
UFC president Dana White clarified the alleged involvement of UFC fighters to the media following the UFC on ESPN 10 event in Las Vegas.
“If you don’t think that I heard about that one at 7 a.m. this morning. You know what I mean? I hope it’s not true,” Dana White told reporters after Saturday night’s UFC on ESPN 10 event in Las Vegas.
“But I hear that all the time. You know how many bald guys in this town walk around and say they’re me. It’s mind-boggling. If I told you some of these stories, you wouldn’t believe it. I’m hoping that is the case.” Dana White concluded (h/t – MMAJunkie.com)
Residents frustrated with the shooting incident
Residents residing near Rebar are frustrated by the shooting incident. KSAT.com reached out to the people living in the area where they expressed their anguish over the shooting.
“It is pretty shocking,” one resident said. “I know a similar situation happened about 10 years ago. It was just scary because I was in my house when I heard the gunshots going off and I was kind of freaking out because I didn’t know what was going on. It is just sad because it puts everyone in danger, and I hope nothing like this happens again.”
“There, the commotion has been going on for some time now,” a resident said. “REBAR is actually a good place. The owner has worked hard with us on becoming a great neighbour, but it’s the bars across the street.”
