UFC President Dana White is not at all happy with Jon Jones‘s recent actions. Jon Jones recently attended the UFC’s Hall Of Fame ceremony for his induction into the Hall of fame for his fight with Alexander Gustafsson. After the ceremony, Jon jones stayed in a hotel in Las Vegas from where he was arrested the next morning. He was arrested by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Jones was booked into Clark County Detention Center at 5:45 a.m. local time. He was released the day later.
After hearing the news of Jon Jones’s arrest, UFC president Dana White gave his honest reaction to the incident and said that he wasn’t surprised about it.
“It’s hard to bring this guy to Las Vegas for any reason,” White told reporters on Friday after the UFC 266 ceremonial weigh-ins. “This city is not good for Jon Jones. And here we are again.”
“It’s like it’s not even shocking anymore,” White said. “When we bring him here, it’s almost expected. Can’t even get him into Las Vegas for less than 12 hours to induct him into the Hall of Fame. It’s a problem. This guy’s got a lot of demons, man – a lot of demons.”
He continued, “Is it really shocking anymore? It’s really not. It’s become not shocking. It’s almost become, ‘Uh oh, he’s in Vegas again. What’s going to happen today?’ You want to hope the guy is better, and that won’t be the case, but he proves every time he comes to this town that he can’t handle this place.”
Jon Jones says he will stop drinking
After getting released from custody Jones posted a video to his Instagram stories of himself lifting weights with Randy Newman’s song “You’ve Got A Friend In Me” playing. In that story, he posted some statements from which he tried giving all his followers a message.
“I have way too much trauma to consume alcohol, my brain simply can’t handle it anymore. I will leave alcohol in my past forever.”
“Turn this nightmare into the best thing to ever happen in my life”
“Now is the time to work harder than ever”
“What the devil means for bad, God means for good.”
“Get right back on my horse.”
Now UFC President Dana White was asked to give his thoughts on the entire incident and about Jon Jones Instagram post to which he replied by saying that Jones should have stopped drinking 10 years ago.
“10 years ago. You’re late,” Dana White told the media at the Dana White’s Contender Series 41 post-fight news conference.
“We’ll do what we always do,” White told reporters at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. “We’re very consistent in that we watch and see how this thing plays out legally and what happens, and then we’ll make a decision from there.”
“It’s like it’s not even shocking anymore,” White said then. “When we bring him here, it’s almost expected. Can’t even get him into Las Vegas for less than 12 hours to induct him into the Hall of Fame. It’s a problem.”
