The upcoming Jake Paul vs Nate Diaz boxing match has many fans excited, but UFC prez Dana White isn’t very fond of the matchup.
I don’t want to talk about the fight: Dana White
Paul and Diaz are set to square off in a PPV headline on DAZN this 5th of August in Dallas, Texas. The fight will see Diaz making his debut as a pro boxer, as well as Paul’s return to action since suffering his maiden loss to Tommy Fury earlier this year.
All that being said, White said on The Jim Rome Show that he feels its another cheap tactic from Paul- to be going back to box an MMA fighter in his 40s, in the wake of defeat.
“I don’t know, man. I’ve been trying not to (criticize it),” said White. “I like Nate. Nate and I have a good relationship. It’s just, listen, Jake Paul went out and fought a real boxer who was his age, his weight, and he lost. So as soon as he loses, he goes back to a 40-year-old MMA fighter who’s smaller than him, not his weight. It’s just, listen, it’s just one of those fights that I know that some people are into this. It’s just not what I’m into. It’s not my thing.”
“I don’t want to sh*t on other people’s fights, like ‘Oscar De La Weirdo’… Umm, but yeah, no. I don’t want to talk about the fight. It’s just there’s no… First of all, neither guy is my guy. There’s just no need for me to comment on it. I wish him the best, I hope they make a zillion dollars,” the UFC prez added. [H/T BJPenn.com]
While its not the first time that White has lashed out at Paul, considering his previous fights, Paul vs Diaz is expected to be another PPV success.
