Last month Jorge Masvidal knocked out former Bellator and ONE Championship welterweight champion Ben Askren in just 5-seconds to create a record for the fastest knockout in UFC history.
That knockout raised his profile tremendously and he even appeared on Dan LeBetard show where he said that he wants to fight former two-division world champion from Ireland Conor McGregor. He even said that he wants a title shot against Kamaru Usman next.
However, it looks like UFC president Dana White has no intention of granting either of those things to Jorge ‘Gamebred’ Masvidal.
“You can’t make ultimatums,” White told reporters at a media scrum in Las Vegas. “Listen, we’re going to offer him a fight and if he accepts the fight he does, and if he doesn’t, he doesn’t.”
A title shot is highly unlikely considering Dana White confirmed yesterday that Colby Covington was going to fight Usman for the welterweight championship next.
The only fight that makes sense for Masvidal according to White is Leon Edwards, who is on an eight-fight winning streak and recently defeated former lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos.
“That’s definitely a good fight to make,” White had said last month. “The question is: Where do you do that fight and how much security are we going to have?” (H/T – MMAJunkie.com)
