Dana White wants Jake Paul to fight Anderson Silva next and not Jorge Masvidal

UFC president Dana White has explained his previous statements where he said that he wanted Jake Paul to fight Anderson Silva and not Jorge Masvidal. Dana White affirmed that he still wants to see Jake Paul box against former UFC champion and current boxing prospect Anderson Silva. But Jake Paul seems uninterested in that fight instead wants to fight his friend turned rival Jorge Masvidal who once trained him for his fight against Ben Askren. Jake Paul recently rejected the Anderson fight stating that he wants to fight a tough opponent and stated that Silva only won his fights against easy guys and hasn’t fought anyone like Jake.

“I have a lot of respect for Anderson [Slva]. He’s an MMA legend. I was a fan of his growing up. He’s said nothing but nice things about me, so there’s a mutual respect there. Anderson’s done great against Tito Ortiz and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., but I’m not that, I’m not those guys. I’m fast, I’m explosive, I’m young, I’m hungry, and I’m only getting exponentially better every single day in the gym” Jake Paul said.

Dana White responds to Jake Paul

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph in a recent interview, Dana White explained why he wants Jake Paul to have a boxing match against Anderson Silva instead of Jorge Masvidal.

“Masvidal’s 170 pounds. He likes 170-pounders. Go fight somebody your own size. Anderson Silva’s not under contract, he’s 46 years old – that’s the age group you love to fight – and he’s your size and he’s actually winning fights. If you look at Jake Paul’s history, Jake Paul either fights basketball players who have never fought or he wants to fight washed up older guys who haven’t won fights in years. Anderson Silva has actually been boxing, he’s won some fights, he’s 46 years old, and he’s in your weight class. There you go. That’s a no-brainer. Fight Anderson Silva,” White said (h/t MMAFighting).

“Fans would actually probably like to see that fight. It’s actually a viable fight that would actually sell some pay-per-views. Cause no matter what they tell ya, he ain’t f*cking selling pay-per-views. The brother did. Logan, when he fought Floyd Mayweather, they sold some PPVs. Triller ain’t selling jack sh*t. Those guys couldn’t f*cking give away pay-per-views. If Jake Paul goes out and actually fights Anderson Silva, it’s a viable fight” White said.
