Daniel Cormier feels he needs new motivation to face Stipe Miocic

At UFC 241, one of the biggest rematches in the UFC heavyweight division’s history will take place between the current UFC heavyweight champion and a former champ champ, Daniel Cormier against the longest reigning heavyweight champion in UFC history, Stipe Miocic. In their first fight, DC was hungry to be a double champ, and thus knocked Miocic out in the first round but he feels that now he needs new motivation to face Miocic.

In a recent interview given to MMA Junkie radio, DC said that his motivation for facing Stipe needs to change now, and he should instead focus on defending his belt. Here’s what he had to say:

The motivation needs to change, Before, it was, ‘I’m going to go and become a double champion.’ Now I need to go and defend this title again and go beat one of the best heavyweights of all-time for a second time. This is not easy. Ultimately, it’s always about winning the fight. Get the job done, but if there’s any way to improve, then try to improve. I mean, can I find a submission? Can I find a way to take advantage of the same type of mistake that he may have made prior?
