UFC 230 is almost here, and in the main event of the card, Daniel Cormier is set to face Derrick ‘The Blackbeast’ Lewis. Heading into the fight, Daniel Cormier had some specific thoughts to sound out. He addressed the issue of fans complaining about Derrick Lewis getting a title fight against him, and gave his own thoughts about it.
Daniel Cormier was tired of hearing fans complaining about Derrick Lewis getting a title shot against him. He objected to fans calling Lewis undeserving and said that it was ‘unfair’ to him. Cormier continued to talk about the fact that he had never turned away a fight in his life, having faced Anthony Johnson twice, Anderson Silva on short notice, and even Jon Jones when he came back from suspension.

“I never turn away fights, I fight everybody, and right now the idea that Derrick Lewis is undeserving is so unfair to him. In July he beat the Number 1 contender, in September… October, he beat the Number 3 contender. If you are number 2 and you beat 1 and you beat 3, what does that normally make you? The Number 1 Contender for the title!”
Cormier added that Lewis belongs where he is, and there was nothing wrong with the fight.
With only one day to go, Cormier will be in the main event of UFC 230, when he takes on Derrick Lewis to defend his UFC Heavyweight Title.
