The biggest fight in the welterweight division between Tyron Woodley and Darren Till is exactly a week away and although it’s one of the most anticipating fights of the year, it has to do good business, but earlier PPV cards headlined by Woodley haven’t particularly been that good and This is Till’s very first PPV headline.
However, ahead of the fight, it’s no secret that Till has always struggled to make the welterweight limit in his previous fight, he was 3.5 pounds overweight for the Stephen Thomspon fight and took a lot of heat from MMA fans, as he himself boasted about how big he was for that weight class and but he ended up coming overweight on two separate occasions.
And ahead of UFC 228, it looks like similar situation is on the rise as Darren Till is massively struggling to make weight and has gotten annoyed by people asking him about his weight cut.
We’ll see,” Till said after offering the number. “Friday I’m not stepping any heavier than 170. Hopefully I’m there, then I can have me traditional Coke, what I’m used to having. We’ll see, but I’m not looking ahead of anything now.”
“It’s always hard,” Till said. “I’m lean, I’m focused, weight’s OK.”
Till says his suffering won’t last long as he plans on moving up to middleweight after winning a UFC title at welterweight and defending it a couple of times.
“I’m in me moment now where I just want to fight,” Till said. “I live for this. I’m just ready to fight. I’m not ready for anything else. I’m not ready for … I don’t think about anything. I don’t really care about anything. I just want Saturday to come as quick as possible and for me to show why I’m one of the best fighters alive.
“I say it time and time again, and I’ll continue to prove it against the best. Tyron Woodley is, in my opinion, one of the best welterweights of all time, and I will prove that I will beat him and be one of the best myself.”
