Just a day before UFC 279 takes place, an “absolute s***show” during the press conference before the event involving a backstage brawl between Khamzat Chimaev and Kevin Holland has taken the headlines, and Darren Till has spoken up his perspective of what actually happened.
Chimaev, who is set to headline UFC 279 against Nate Diaz this Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada, were involved in a physical altercation backstage, which pushed Dana White to call off the presser.
“S*** show – absolute s*** show back there,” White said at the press conference room. “Ask them questions. There’s lots of crazy s*** going on back there.”

That’s their beef, none of us are gonna step in: Darren Till
Amidst the cloudy situation of what happened between the two 170-pounders, Darren Till has come up to clear the air. Speaking to The Mac Life, the middleweight fighter and former welterweight title contender who is part of Chimaev’s team, said that his team just wanted to secure ‘Borz’ from getting jumped by multiple people.
As for the brawl between Chimaev and Holland, ‘The Gorilla’ opined that the two fighters should be left alone to settle the beef between themselves.
“If Khamzat and Kevin bumped into each other, that’s their beef, none of us are gonna step in, like that’s not our beef,” said Till, “So I was saying that to Kevin, like, ‘None of us are gonna jump, you have your beef with [Khamzat]. And he was like, ‘Just worry about your fights, don’t tell me what to do.'” I was like, ‘just do what you are doing then mate, don’t really give a f**k.’”
“It was just normal, I don’t know if I’m saying that because we are fighters it was normal, because we fight all the time,” the Liverpudlian went on, “I don’t see this like anything, nothing. It’s just team versus team. They are going to protect Nate and we’re going to protect Khamzat. It’s team versus team, that’s all there is.”
Till also asserted that he and the rest of his team will be present during the weigh-ins as well as the ceremonial weigh-ins, as its expected that things between the two groups won’t be cooling down anytime soon.
“I said to the UFC; tomorrow, me and the teammates we are just not leaving Khamzat’s side, that’s it. There’s just all of us not leaving him anywhere. I will not be leaving his side tomorrow, I promise you that right now,” Till continued, “I’m here to make sure Khamzat wins this fight, gets paid, that’s what I’m here making sure of.”
