Former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder continues to hold interest in fighting Francis Ngannou in PFL.
Francis you hit me, you know what’s up: Deontay Wilder
The “Bronze Bomber” was last seen in action against Robert Helenius in October last year. Wilder had won the fight via 1st round knockout, which snapped his two fight losing streak against longtime rival Tyson Fury.
Since the win, Wilder has been looking for his next challenge and has ben linked to the likes of Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz Jr, but none of those speculations actually gained any ground in the long run.
However, the only lead we have now is that Wilder has openly shown interest in squaring off against Francis Ngannou- the former UFC heavyweight champion who signed up with PFL in April, not just because of his fallout with the UFC but also for his desire to get into boxing.
While Fury was named by Ngannou multiple times as his debut fight, it seems now that his entry into the squared circle might actually happen against Wilder, as the boxer recently said that he’s not only ready to box Ngannou but is also willing to step into the cage with “The Predator”.
“He knows what the deal is. Francis you hit me, you know what’s up,” Wilder told The Schmo. “But yeah, I was at the PFL to enjoy some fighting, to shake a couple of hands with a couple of people, and talk business as well. Francis is one of those names that definitely came up, and keeps coming up.”
“Hopefully we can get something on the schedule in the near future that we can present to the people and make this fight become a reality,” he added. [H/T BJPenn.com]
