A heavyweight bout between positioned competitors Curtis Blaydes and Derrick Lewis will feature on UFC Fight Night in November.

Earlier, Derrick Lewis wished to chart a way back to his title scene in the UFC heavyweight division. Following his third win on the trot, ‘The Black Beast’ called out a higher-ranked contender, Curtis Blaydes.

The two sides have consented to the heavyweight matchup, which will occur on Nov. 28 at an area to be resolved. It’s a battle Blaydes freely requested a week ago, following Lewis’s victory over Alexey Oleinik on a UFC Fight Night card in Las Vegas.

Breaking: Curtis Blaydes (@RazorBlaydes265) vs. Derrick Lewis (@Thebeast_ufc) will headline UFC Fight Night on 11/28, location TBD. Blaydes asked for it, knows Lewis is a fan favorite and wants to build momentum. Lewis was down, wanted time to get in peak shape. Should be good,” Okamoto tweeted.

Blaydes (14-2) has a pretty strong case already. The Denver-based heavyweight is 9-2 in the UFC. The second-ranked heavyweight opened up after the UFC made the bout official. He saidI’m happy and excited about it. This is the one I asked for, and I’m happy the UFC listened and made it a main event. I know Derrick Lewis is a name, he has a large following and a win over him will solidify my case as the next one to go after the heavyweight title. I know Ngannou is up next, and I want to build my case for after him.

Derrick Lewis: Future Champion?

On the other hand, Lewis (24-7) is on a three-fight win streak. The Houston native came up short in a heavyweight title bid against then-champion Daniel Cormier in late 2018 and then suffered a loss to Junior dos Santos four months later. Lewis has since stated he is much healthier over this latest run, however, and is poised to make another run at a title.

Blaydes set the UFC heavyweight record for takedowns landed in his last fight in June. He managed to get Alexander Volkov on the ground fourteen-times over three rounds.

Meanwhile, ‘The Black Beast’ demolished a submission machine to claim a record 11th KO in the UFC heavyweight division. He will back his chances against ‘Razor’ as the wrestler has lost only twice in his UFC career.

Who do you think will win this fight?
