Top ranked UFC heavyweight Derrick “The Black Beast” Lewis has been on the receiving end of plenty of harsh criticism ever since his fight with Francis Ngannou at UFC 226. While their fight was highly anticipated back then, it had instead turned out to be one of the worst in the UFC’s long history. However, Lewis even though he was the more aggressive fight on the night barely threw much strikes because of a painful back injury. In a recent interview, he addressed the ghosts of his last fight and also claimed that this fight will be much more entertaining, specially the first round, while also revealed that he has been using certain USADA approved steroids to heal his injuries.
Lewis recently addressed the media. Here’s what he told MMA Fighting about his back injuries and his upcoming fight:
If I get caught, whatever, that’s fine. If I gas out, whatever, that’s fine. Because the first round of this fight right here should be a real good one. If I don’t do anything the rest of the fight, after the first round, do not stick these mics to my face. Because the first round should be real fun.
Yes for sure (about him having a bad injury). It’s real uncomfortable. But hopefully, the doctors and stuff like that and all those things I have been doing, the steroids I have been taking. USADA approved steroids (chuckles) that I have been taking will really help me. So we’ll see.
