UFC is targeting a heavyweight matchup between top contender Derrick Lewis and Chris Daukaus for UFC’s December 18 event. The fight has not been officially announced yet but the UFC is trying to make it a done deal. Chris is a new breakout fighter in the UFC’s heavyweight division and has made a name for himself after his TKO finish over Shamil Abdurakhimov at UFC 266 last weekend in Las Vegas. This amazing win will now give him a straight shot at the former interim title challenger, Derrick Lewis. Lewis is coming off a loss against the current interim champion Ciryl Gane.
The heavyweight fight will headline UFC Fight Night in December which will most probably be taking place in the fight capital of Las Vegas. As first reported by ESPN late Monday evening and per Dana White, this is the fight to make.

The fight will be an interesting one considering the landscape of the UFC’s heavyweight division which is in desperate need of some new challenges to the reigning champion Francis Ngannou.
Derrick Lewis vs Chris Daukaus- Battle of KO artist
Both of these fighters are known for their heavyweight knockout power. Chris is 4-0 in the UFC and is 12-3 in overall MMA. 11 of his wins are by KO or TKO. All his 4 wins in the UFC are by KO/TKO. Daukaus made his UFC debut on short notice against Parker Porter at UFC 252. He won the fight by TKO in the very first round. He then went on to collect two more finishes. In his last fight, he fought Shamil Abdurakhimov at UFC 266. The fight was a back-and-forth affair but it was Chris who was doing more damage. He got the finish in the second round. He is now the No.10 rank UFC heavyweight. He will be looking to get a win over Lewis and jump directly in the top 5 of the division.
Derrick Lewis is coming off a brutal hometown loss against Ciryl Gane. The duo fought for the interim heavyweight title. Derrick Lewis was never in a good position in that fight and Gane didn’t let him get ahead and kept constantly hitting him before getting the finish in the third round. He will be looking forward to getting back in the win column with a dominant victory over a rising contender like Chris Daukaus.
