Diego Lopes intends to defeat Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 314 in order to request a rematch with Movsar Evloev.
The Brazilian is currently getting ready to go back into the cage in Miami later this month. Diego Lopes will face Alexander Volkanovski for the first time since defeating Brian Ortega via unanimous decision in September of last year. “The Great,” who was previously knocked out by Ilia Topuria in February of last year, will go into UFC 314 on a two-fight losing run.
Diego Lopes talked about his upcoming comeback to the octagon in a recent interview with MMA Junkie. The tough Brazilian was questioned there about what would happen after UFC 314 next. Lopez finds it difficult to avoid thinking about the future, even though every fighter makes a concerted effort to avoid looking past their opponents.
Plans for the UFC annual Noche event in September were revealed by the promotion last month. The event with a Mexican theme will take place in Mexico for the first time. Diego Lopes has a very good chance of being the main attraction at the tournament. In the cage, the Brazilian, who famously immigrated to the country as a youth, stands in for them.
Diego Lopes intends to win the championship at UFC 314 and request a rematch with Movsar Evloev
Movsar Evloev is the only opponent Diego Lopes would like to face if he were given the chance to headline Noche UFC. Famously, the Russian defeated the hard-hitting Brazilian by unanimous decision in May 2023. In light of this, Lopes wants nothing more than to get revenge on his countrymen for his one loss in the octagon.
“Of course, this fight for me is important because this guy beat me in the past,”Diego Lopes told MMA Junkie on Friday. “But now it’s different. It’s different things. I’m at the top, and this guy, too. Maybe we’ll fight for the title. I’m so excited for the next step, but my focus is on Volkanovski. I win the belt and I will ask the UFC for the fight with Movsar [Evloev].”
He continued, “One hundred percent, this is my goal: Win the fight next week and I will ask the UFC for the fight in Guadalajara. For me, to defend the title in Guadalajara, Mexico, is special for me, because I’ve lived in Mexico for 10 years. I live in Guadalajara. I have so much people in Guadalajara support me. One hundred percent, I will fight to defend the belt in September.”
