Former UFC veteran Diego Sanchez is close to finalizing a fight deal with Bare Knuckle Fight Championship and is waiting to get medically cleared.
BKFC president David Feldman revealed that he is in talks with former UFC fighter Diego Sanchez and is willing to sign him for the BKFC roster but the only thing he is waiting for at the moment is to get Diego medically cleared to fight. Recently during the BKFC press conference in Miami Florida, Diego Sanchez was present there and stated that he is going to be soon signing up with the promotional and will be competing for Fun.
In his last fight in the UFC, Diego was supposed to fight Donald Cerrone on May 8, 2021, at UFC on ESPN 24. However, he was removed from the fight on April 28 for undisclosed reasons. Right after that, he was released from the UFC as he and his then coach Joshua Fabia had some disputes with the UFC team regarding Sanchez’s health issue.
BKFC waiting for Diego Sanchez to get medically fit
BKFC president David Feldman stated that he will be ensuring that Diego Sanchez is completely fit to fight in the BKFC, until that he won’t sign Sanchez for the promotion.
“Yeah we’re having some great talks,” Feldman told MMA Junkie. “I think we’re going to close something out pretty soon. He’s a good guy. I think he can offer a lot to us. I don’t think he’s done. We’ll absolutely go through every type of medical protocol that there are just because of the history he had with the guy (Joshua Fabia) that he was with. I want to make sure that everything’s on the up and up with him, and I have a really good hunch and a feeling that they are.”
“So once we get through that, I think we can get to a contract and get something going. It’ll be great to have that legend, Diego Sanchez, fighting another legend inside the squared circle, which as soon as Diego signs, and I can announce the matchup that I have, people are going to be like, ‘What the hell is going on here?’”
David also revealed that he is already busy planning some fights for Diego Sanchez.
“I got one that’s not on the roster that people are also going to go ‘What the hell?’” Feldman said. “And I got another one that’s on the roster that people are 100 percent going to be like, ‘I can’t believe this. This doesn’t make any sense,’ but he actually, he asked for it. Until I get the contract done, I don’t want to tease, tease, tease. I hate doing that to you, man, but, you know.”
