Former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz has been planning to make a comeback to the cage this year, and Bellator MMA ace Dillon Danis has offered to face the veteran on his return fight.

The 46-year-old, who made headlines last months after being offered a lucrative $100K from adult website CamSoda to take part in a two against one mixed martial arts bout, recently went on Twitter to announce his comeback to the sport this year.

“I will be fighting this year. Who should I fight? 2021” Ortiz had asked the Twitterati about who his comeback opponent could be.
While the comment section had a plethora of options, the post soon came under the radar of Danis, who retweeted his desire to face the veteran MMA fighter.

“let’s do it.” wrote the 27-year-old.

Danis offers to be Ortiz’s comeback opponent, but he himself is on a two year hiatus

While he has made only two appearances in his professional MMA career and has not been seen in action for more than two years, Danis made a big name in the community for being the trainer and close associate of former UFC double champion Conor McGregor.

The Armenian origin American is 2-0 in his professional MMA career and has made appearances at Bellator 198 in April 2018, when he defeated Kyle Walker by toe hold submission, and at Bellator 222 in June 2019, when he defeated Max Humphrey via armbar submission.

Ortiz became the UFC light heavyweight champion all the way back at UFC 25 in April 2000, winning the vacant title against Wanderlei Silva. He then continued to defend his title across three years and five fights, until he lost it against Randy Couture at UFC 44 in 2003 September.

In 2012, Ortiz left UFC after three back to back defeats and signed up with Bellator MMA two years later, where he competed for the Bellator Light Heavyweight World Championship against Liam McGeary at Bellator 142: Dynamite 1.

He was last seen in action against former WWE superstar Alberto El Patrón at Combate Americas 51: Tito vs. Alberto which took place on 7th December 2019. In November last year, Ortiz became one of the winner of Huntington Beach City Council election and becoming Mayor pro tempore but resigned after a string of controversies.
