Former UFC Bantanweight Champion Dominick Cruz has had a career plagued with injuries. These injuries have resulted in him not fighting since December 30, 2016 at UFC 207 where he lost his title in dominant fashion against then prospect Cody ‘No Love’ Garbrandt.
Cruz was since then scheduled to fight another young up comer Jimmie ‘El Terror’ Rivera at UFC 219 on December 30, 2017 but had to pull out again due to a broken arm. Recently though Dominick Cruz tweeted a message on Twitter featuring him walking out to a fight with the caption, ‘There’s no better feeling’. This has been speculated by many as a precursor to a fight announcement for the former Bantanweight champ.

Since Dominick Cruz fought against Cody Garbrandt almost 2 years ago, the belt has been regained by his old rival T.J. Dillashaw after he beat Garbrandt at UFC 217 by knockout and in the rematch knocking out Garbrandt at UFC at UFC 227.
Contenders such Marlon Moraes who defeated Jimmie Rivera by knockout, Rivera who came back with a win over John Dodson, Raphael Assuncao and John Lineker are ranked in the stacked Bantanweight division, making it probable that one of the above mentioned fighters could be decided as the opponent for the former champ.
