UFC is targeting to get a fight between Dominick Cruz and Pedro Munhoz for the UFC 269 card in December. UFC 269 card is set to be headlined by the trilogy fight between current champion Brandon Moreno and former champion Deiveson Figueiredo. The first fight between the duo was a draw and the second fight was won by Brandon Moreno who choked out Figueiredo. Also, the two-division women’s champion Amanda Nunes is set to defend her bantamweight title against Julianna Pena. UFC is making the last PPV card of the year stacked and now they are working on adding another great bantamweight matchup between Cruz and Munhoz. UFC 269 will take place on December 11, 2021, at a location that is yet to be decided.
The UFC bantamweight division is one of the most stacked divisions in the company. All the top 15 fighters have the calibre to beat any other ranked fighter in their division which has made it an excellent weight class. Most of the fighters are scheduled to fight each other. Now another exciting fight has been made between two of the elite striker in the division. The former two-time bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz will be facing the division’s brawler Pedro Munhoz.
Pedro Munhoz takes on Former champ Dominick Cruz
Pedro Munhoz who started his UFC career as a wild fighter has now found his steady gameplan in the past couple of fights. Though he hasn’t been on the winning side for most of them he is still one of the best in the 135-pound weight class. He came into the UFC as an undefeated hothead but faced few rough patches on his way to the top. He was on an amazing three-fight win streak that included a TKO win over former champ Cody Garbrandt. Cody won the belt after defeating Dominick Cruz and now Pedro is set to fight Cruz which gives him some advantage over his opponent.
In his last fight, he fought Jose Aldo and lost the back and forth fight via decision. In his last three losses have all been due to his lack o ability to push the pedal and go for the finish. He has been lacking the aggression which he use to carry in his early UFC career.
Dominick Cruz has been dealing with injuries all his career. But even with that he somehow manages to come back and defeat the top guys in his division. He has fought three fights in the last five years which is a big concern for him. But he believes ring rust does not exist if you have been actively training which he does. In his last fight, he fought an unranked Casey Kenney on March 6, 2021, at UFC 259. He won the fight via decision. Though many feel that Dominick Cruz’s time is in the past but he is known for his comebacks and the fight with Pedro Munhoz will be a great chance for him to start his comeback story.
