Former featherweight and lightweight UFC champion Conor McGregor is set to fight Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone at UFC 246 which will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Ever since this fight was announced, fans have been very critical of this match-up as they don’t think this is a big enough challenge for the Irishmen as cowboy is coming off two back to back TKO losses to Justin Gaethje and Tony Ferguson.

However, Cowboy Cerrone is one of the most accomplished fighters in the UFC even if he has never held a UFC title. He has won 23 fights in the UFC, which is a record for the most victories in the organisation.

His overall MMA record stands at 36-13. He has finished 27 opponents inside the cage, out of which he has submitted 17 opponents and knocked out 10 opponents inside the cage.

While the Irishmen is the betting favourite going into this fight, Cerrone feels that MMA fans are in for a surprise as he is the better mixed martial artist than Conor McGregor.

Do I feel like a better mixed martial artist? Absolutely,” Cerrone told MMA Fighting in a recent interview. “I feel like I’ve been in the trenches. I’ve been in the big fights. I’ve walked this path many, many times.

This is my 51st MMA fight coming out of that tunnel. Literally, I’ve done it more than anybody.”

This will be Donald Cerrone’s fifth fight within a span of a year. He is currently 2-2 in the UFC this year. On the other hand, McGregor hasn’ fought in fifteen months. He was last seen in action back in 2018 when he fought reigning UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229.
