Former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion Conor McGregor is all set to return to the Octagon against Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone at UFC246, which is set to take place at the T-Mobile Arena on January 18.

Ever since this fight was announced, fans have been very critical of this match-up as they don’t think this is a big enough challenge for the Irishmen as cowboy is coming off two back to back TKO losses to Justin Gaethje and Tony Ferguson.

Leading up to UFC 246, the fan narrative seems to be about McGregor’s future fights after he is done with Cerrone. There’s even a narrative running around that he is being paid to take a dive against Conor McGregor.

However, Donald Cerrone put an end to all such rumours adding that he would fight for free than take money to lose.

Hell no, I’m not bowing down,” Cerrone told MMA Fighting in a recent interview. “There’s a bunch of sh*t going around, people keep telling me ‘I heard you’re getting paid to take a dive.’ There wouldn’t be enough money in the world for someone to pay me to take a dive. I could never look myself in the mirror if somebody paid me to take a dive. Sh*t, never happen.

I’d rather fight for free than take money to f*cking lose. That’s not me. I’m going to fight my ass off like I do every time.”

This will be Donald Cerrone’s fifth fight within a span of a year. He is currently 2-2 in the UFC this year. On the other hand, McGregor hasn’ fought in fifteen months. He was last seen in action back in 2018 when he fought reigning UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229.
