Last weekend at UFC 242 which took place in Abu Dhabi, UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov successfully defended his title by submitting interim champion Dustin Poirier in the third-round via rear-naked choke.

Following his loss, Poirier wasn’t sure about his fighting career, but soon sent out a tweet stating that he wants to fight Conor McGregor next and it doesn’t matter if it’s in Boxing or MMA. The pair previously met at UFC 178 back in 2014 where the Irishmen knocked him out in the first round.

I think me and Conor running it back makes a lot of sense at this point,” Poirier wrote on Twitter.

This resulted in an immediate reply from Conor McGregor who said that he knocked him[Poirier] out in 90 seconds the last time they fought and that Poirier should have taken his name with a bit more respect.

Five years ago they both fought at featherweight division. Conor went on to become the featherweight and lightweight champion. Ever since that loss, Dustin has amassed a record of 9-2-1 and became the interim lightweight champion. Both fighters are currently in the same weight class and have suffered loss to the same fighter in their last fight.

Do you guys want to see the rematch? Who do you think wins the rematch?

Brian Ortega says it’s a ‘wrap’ if he had Khabib’s neck like Poirier did at UFC 242
