Dustin Poirier’s Mission: From Feeding the Needy to Supporting Educational Programs
In April 2018, alongside his wife, Jolie Poirier, Dustin co-founded The Good Fight Foundation, with the mission to create positive change by supporting causes close to their hearts. And they’ve done just that.
The foundation has led numerous fundraising campaigns, including initiatives to combat food insecurity. Ahead of his UFC 299 fight against Benoit Saint Denis, Poirier pledged to auction his entire fight gear to raise $50,000 for FoodNet, a South Louisiana-based organization. FoodNet ensures that families facing food insecurities have access to essential meals. By auctioning off his gear, Poirier turned fight memorabilia into a lifeline for those in need.
“This particular fight, we set a goal of $50,000 for Food Net, it’s a nonprofit in South Louisiana that helps families facing food insecurities get food on the table. They give them fundamental food bags, groceries things like that, and we want to pledge $50,000 towards them, so I’m going to auction everything off,” said Poirier in a recent interview with TMZ.
Education is another cornerstone of The Good Fight Foundation. Poirier recognizes the power of knowledge and its ability to transform lives. The foundation has actively supported educational programs, empowering young minds to reach their full potential.
Auctioning Fight Kits for a Cause
Following his clashes with Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 242, Poirier exchanged shirts with “The Eagle.” Khabib announced that he would sell the shirt gifted by Poirier and donate the proceeds to American charities.
In a similar spirit, Poirier auctioned his UFC Fight Night 120 and UFC on Fox 29 fight kits. The funds raised were allocated to assist the family of a deceased Lafayette police officer and the Acadiana Outreach Center.
Beyond the Octagon: Diverse Ventures
Dustin Poirier isn’t just about fighting and philanthropy. He’s also ventured into entrepreneurship. In December 2020, he launched his Cajun hot sauce brand, “Poirier’s Louisiana Style,” in collaboration with Heartbeat Hot Sauce Co. This flavorful endeavor combines his love for Louisiana culture with a desire to give back.
In 2022, The Good Fight Foundation continued to make waves. Poirier, Jolie, and other board members contributed over $287,000 to various charities and causes worldwide. Their commitment to making a difference remains unwavering.
Dustin Poirier’s Good Fight Foundation exemplifies the spirit of resilience, compassion, and community. Beyond the bright lights of the UFC, he fights for a better world—one auction, one educational program, and one bottle of hot sauce at a time. As fans, let’s rally behind this fighter who proves that the real battles are fought outside the cage.
