UFC lightweight contender Dustin Poirier is not going to wait for Conor to recover and get ready for the fourth fight of their series instead he is going to move on but will be ready to fight Conor again.

It seems like Dustin Poirier and Conor Mcgregor are having a hard time, moving on to their next fight. Conor and Dustin fought at UFC 264 in the trilogy fight of their series. Before UFC 264 the fighting series between the duo was steady at 1-1. But at UFC 264 Dustin secured a TKO win via doctor stoppage and went ahead in their series. Conor at the end of the first round twisted his ankle and snapped his foot which resulted in the doctor’s stoppage. Though many fans and even Conor believe that the series is now 1-1-1 as the result of their last fight wasn’t because of a finish secured by his opponent.

Conor on multiple occasions has revealed that he is very much interested in the fourth and hopefully the final fight of their series. But now Dustin seems to have lost interest in that rivalry and wants to win the belt. Though he is still not cutting out the possibility of their another fight.

Dustin Poirier won’t wait for Conor McGregor

“The rematch, obviously, I knocked him out, so there’s an ending to the fight,” Poirier said on The MMA Hour. “The [third fight], his leg breaks, so you don’t get that same feel. It’s a win on my record for sure, and I was winning, but the second fight, I put him away. The third fight, I don’t know what to say with that. That feeling, especially with the media or fans, people say, ‘You didn’t beat him.’ The second time I got that, ‘You beat him.’”

“We’ll see what happens,” Poirier said. “I’m not sitting back waiting to fight him a fourth time. If it makes sense and it comes about, we’ll do it again. I’m just training and living my life. My daughter just started her first day of school today. I’m having fun trying to continue to grow as a martial artist. I’m not committing to anything. I haven’t spoken to the UFC about the title fight or their timeline. I haven’t been reached out [to] by the company. Anything’s possible, but we’ll go with what makes the most sense.”

Dustin talks about his fourth fight with Conor and for that Conor needs time to recover first from his injury.

“The road he’s going to have to recover that leg is going to be long,” Poirier concluded. “But when you’re committed to things, and you bust your ass, maybe he can. Time will tell.”
