Dustin Poirier, the No. 4-ranked lightweight in the UFC, recently responded to Michael Chandler’s tweet claiming he was “living rent-free” in Poirier’s head. The heated exchange between the two fighters has been ongoing for almost two years since their clash at UFC 281 in November 2022.
In that fight, Poirier secured a third-round submission victory over Chandler. However, ‘The Diamond’ has consistently accused ‘Iron’ of fighting dirty, alleging intentional fish-hooking and blowing bloody snot during their bout. When Chandler tweeted about living rent-free, Poirier fired back, saying, “Check your record, buddy. That last loss was to the kid right here” .
Dustin Poirier is "on the fence," but thinks he will fight again.
“If a big fight came along that was exciting, that was dangerous, I would probably take it. I still love this.”

Can Dustin Poirier Fight Michael Chandler Again in The Near Future?
Despite Dustin Poirier’s 1-2 record since their initial encounter, his losses came while competing for the undisputed lightweight title and the symbolic ‘BMF’ title. Meanwhile, Chandler has not stepped into the octagon for nearly two years, with his planned fight against Conor McGregor at UFC 303 falling through due to McGregor’s broken toe .
Dustin Poirier has made it clear that he is not a fan of Chandler, especially after sharing the octagon with the former three-time Bellator lightweight champion. When Chandler suggested that Poirier should retire, ‘The Diamond’ responded, “You just got here, buddy. You’re not one of us. I’ve been here since 2010. Muscle milk Mike needs to chill”.
While a rematch between Poirier and Chandler seems unlikely, their social media exchanges continue to entertain fans and keep the rivalry alive.
