Eddie Hearn opened up on some potential plans for the much-awaited Matchroom vs. Queensberry Five-versus-Five event in Saudi Arabia.

The event which was announced last month, will take place in June. Fighters from the two boxing promotions will face each other in a five-versus-five fight night in Riyadh. Hearn went into the details while talking with Boxing King Media.

“The noise behind Matchroom v Queensberry is actually probably bigger than any other fight I’ve promoted,” said Hearn. “My call with George [Warrren] 20 minutes ago was to say next week, let’s get together in London, let’s start to put some meat on the bones around these matchups. We know the date now and the weight classes will be worked on and announced in the Fury-Usyk fight week and be huge.”

Hearn went on to call this fight bigger than any other fight he promoted. The weight classes for the event will be selected by the promoters and his excellency Turki Alalshikh will pick the final class of five.

Matchroom vs. Queensberry: Who are the fighters?

Eddie Hearn also talked about a transfer window that could open specially for the event, fighters identities will be kept secret until the press conference for the event. This will increase the hype and suspense for the fights.

“This is the fascinating part,” Hearn continued. “George could turn round and say ‘I’m going light-heavyweight and I’m going Anthony Yarde’. It’s then down to me to find my best 175lb-er who’s willing to take on Anthony Yarde. Then I will turn round and go, ‘168lbs, Diego Pacheco’. And you will turn around and find your best 168lb-er and then His Excellency may turn around and go ‘heavyweights’. And George will go ‘Dubois, Joyce, whoever’ and I will have to use one of my heavyweights – or – and this is to be discussed with George next week, is there a transfer window? Can I go out and sneak a little big signing in? I think that’s the way that we should do it.” [H/T DAZN]

Hearn labeled this event as friendly but also talked about how they are “dying to win” the fights and assert their domination.
