Edmen Shahbazyan vs. Jack Hermansson postponed from UFC 262 and rescheduled for UFC Vegas 27

An intriguing middleweight matchup between rising talent Edmen Shahbazyan and Jack Hermansson which was scheduled for UFC 262 will now take place at UFC Vegas 27 on May 22.

The fight between Edmen Shahbazyan and Jack Hermansson was originally booked for this Saturday’s main card in Houston but now it will take place one week later, at UFC Fight Night 188 on May 22. The event is scheduled to take place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. There is no news on whether this fight will headline the event or not but till then this fight night is headlined by Cody Grabrant vs Rob Font.

Shahbazyan (11-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) confirmed the delay in the fight in his Twitter post. UFC president Dana White later told TSN’s Aaron Bronsteter that the delay was caused by a COVID-19 positive case in Hermansson’s camp.

Shahbazyan and Hermansson both looking for a win

Edmen Shahbazyan is currently 11-1 as a pro and coming off his first career loss last August against Derek Brunson who has performed amazingly in his recent fights. Before that fight, Edmen looked like a promising prospect and many fans had huge expectations from him but his hype train was derailed for time being but he now looks ready for his comeback fight and will look to make a statement by defeating a division’s top contender.

Before facing his first loss to Brunson he had defeated Brad Tavares by first-round KO, Jack Marshman by first-round submission, Charles Byrd by first-round TKO, and Darren Stewart by decision. He has an amazing record and 10 out of 11 Shahbazyan’s professional victories have come by finish. He earned his way into the UFC with a first-round TKO win over Antonio Jones on the Contender Series.

Jack Hermasson on the other hand has won five fights from his last seven bouts and is coming off a loss against Marvin Vettori. Before that loss, he had submitted former interim-title challenger Kevin Gastelum after facing a knockout loss to Jared Cannonier.

Both of these fighters will be looking to get back to the win column in an emphatic fashion. UFC 262 is headlined by Charles Oliveira and Michael Chandler who will be fighting for the vacant UFC lightweight championship.
