The Indian representation in mixed martial arts will mark another historic moment this 24th February, as Edukondala Rao will be making his PFL debut at the promotion’s upcoming blockbuster event vs. Bellator in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The highly anticipated PFL vs. Bellator PPV is coming in the wake of PFL acquiring Bellator in the last quarter of 2023, when PFL founder Donn Davis himself insisted that a major blockbuster fight card will be taking place in early 2024.

Edukondal Rao to face Abdullah Al-Qahtani on his PFL debut

Hailing out of Bengaluru, “Badger” has a pro MMA record of 4-1-0. Following a short amateur career with one win and one loss, Rao made his professional MMA debut against Sultan Kokni at The Hero Pro Fight Night 4 in February 2021, winning via 2nd round triangle choke submission.

He remained unbeaten throughout the next three outings, until his Matrix Fight Night debut against Gurtej Singh at MFN 12 in July last year, where Rao suffered his maiden career defeat.

Now, aiming for a winning comeback, Rao has the grandest stage in front of him- the highly anticipated mega event between PFL vs. Bellator, where he will mark his promotional debut for PFL, taking on Saudi Arabia’s Abdullah Al-Qahtani in a featherweight contest.

With a professional record of 7-1-0, Al-Qahtani is currently 2-0 in the PFL, and has defeated Lamar Brown and David Zelner in his last two PFL appearances, at PFL 6 and PFL 9 last year respectively.
