Darren Elkins vs Ricardo Lamas is set to be the co-main event at UFC Fight Night 140 at Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The fighting veteran from Team Alpha Male(TAM)had words with the media before his eventual showdown with Lamas later this weekend. He quoted”I am from the Chicago land area and Ricardo Lamas is also from there,so coming all the way to Argentina to fight each other is kinda funny. I figured maybe they’d put us on (UFC on FOX 31 in Milwaukee) or something, but it is a great opportunity, and I am excited to be here. But I am a little bit surprised.”
Elkins (24-6 MMA, 14-5 UFC) also added that he is glad to fight on this card as he has got about 4-5 Team Alpha Male members fighting on the same card.He also added that he has got some coaches coming to this event at Argentina.

Elkins had all praises for his opponent Lamas for the fight. He said “Lamas is a great fighter. He has been at the top for a long time and this is a fight that is going to be great to watch. He’s exciting,he comes forward and throws down and I do the same thing. This is a fight I was looking forward to a long time and I am excited to come here and put on a show and do my thing”.
Elkins knows he is the underdog coming to this fight and hence he said”If u look at the odds, I am like the underdog in a lot of my fights and I win most of them. When you put me against the fans, that’s when I am most deadly. That’s when I want to bite back.I expect the fans to be on his side. He is obviously going to come out and get a big cheer, maybe they will boo me a little bit but I feed off negative energy, positive energy. I mean, I prefer negative energy. That pumps me up a little bit more actually. If I am the bad guy, I am okay being the bad guy”.
Elkins is quite confident about what kind of gameplan he is going to bring into the octagon. As he said “I got to mix it up, man.I gotta keep him guessing.I have to wrestle him, use Jiu-Jitsu. I have to mix it up and keep Lamas guessing.I know what he does well and he knows what I do well, so it should be exciting”.
Lastly, he said that”This is a sport that has ups and downs when I am down that’s when I fight at my best.I hate losing and I go right back to the gym and start fixing things, but you gotta remember what happened and work on things that were wrong and that’s what I think you are going to see on Saturday.I think I am going to show what’s up”.
Both Elkins and Lamas are coming to this clash from their losses against Alexander Volkanovski and Mirsad Bektic respectively. So it would a contest to look forward when this two fighting veterans will be going to and fro inside the octagon.UFC Fight Night 140 takes place at Parque Roca Arena. The event airs on FS1 following the early prelims on UFC Fight Pass.
