The Ultimate Fighter finale is back for the 28th edition and the Octagon will now be shared by heavy hitters Justin Frazier and Juan Espino on November 30. A win for either fighter could mean a shot at a UFC contract.
Justin Frazier who comes from Arkansas is the massive underdog in this fight, but this fight is very emotional for him and there’s nothing that Espino brings to the cage that scares him because what he deals inside the Octagon is nothing compared to what he has endured over the years as his son had a heart transplant at just two weeks old, and complications afterwards led to a battle with cancer in 2012.
Frazier’s son was born with a congenital birth defect, hypoplastic left heart syndrome, that prevents the oxygen-rich blood from circulating the body.
“Actually, he’ll correct me on that,” Frazier (10-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) told reporters at a media day for his upcoming fight at The Ultimate Fighter 28 Finale. “He’s 32.3 pounds right now. He’s gained some weight, so he’s pumped about that.
“He’s by far the smartest six-year-old you’ll ever see. He will argue and carry on like you wouldn’t believe.”
Justin Frazier revealed that he read letters from his son to keep himself motivated while he was in the Ultimate Fighter reality show. He gets a lot of encouragement from the letters, especially the last letter his son sent him.
“Dad, I know you’re going to kick butt,” Brantley wrote. “You don’t have any other option to do that. But just for good luck, I’m going to send ‘Uno’ with you for good luck, because he was there for me when I needed good luck.”
