UFC flyweight contender Erin Blanchfield has set Manon Fiorot as her next target, in the wake of the controversial split draw in the Alexa Grasso vs. Valentina Shevchenko rematch at UFC Noche last weekend.

I feel like trilogies sometimes can clog up the divisions: Erin Blanchfield

In the main event of UFC Noche last Saturday, 16th September at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Grasso and Shevchenko locked horns for the rematch to their UFC 295 encounter in March which ended with Grasso defeating Shevchenko to become the new 125-pound champ.

The much awaited title rematch ended in a split draw, letting Grasso retain her gold. However, the verdict has been met with much controversy and many are calling for a trilogy fight between the two.

Erin Blanchfield, who was present at the T-Mobile Arena this past Saturday, believes that she deserves a shot at the Women’s Flyweight title up next. However, “Cold Blooded” acknowledges that Manon Fiorot is also pursuing the belt and is willing to fight her for the title shot as well.

“I feel like I definitely should be next,” Blanchfield told  ‘The Schmo’. “I feel like trilogies sometimes can clog up the divisions. Putting in some new blood for the title would be super helpful. I know Manon (Fiorot) is right behind me, so if anything, I could beat her up, too, if they did do a trilogy next. But I want to be next.”

Speaking about Grasso vs. Shevchenko 2, Blanchfield stated that she thought the victory had gone to “Bullet”, and added that she doesn’t agree with judge Mike Bell who gave Grasso a 10-8 in Round 5 leading to the draw.

“That was a crazy fight. Sitting there, I thought Valentina won. I thought she did enough,” she went on, “I’ll definitely have to watch it back and see, but crazy fight. … I think she did (win 48-47). I’d have to watch it back to kind of remember what happened each round and see what girl capitalized on what. But in the moment, I thought Valentina won.”

“I don’t think it was a 10-8. Valentina was maybe covering up for a little bit too long. It did look bad in the moment, but I don’t think it was a 10-8,” Blanchfield added.
