Mairidin Newmai, is not your average fighter. This MFN fighter is also a well known teacher in his home state of Nagaland. In 20212, He got in combat sports with a Taekwondo class and haven’t looked back since. He will represent one of India’s top MMA academy – TCA Nagaland.
Over the years, TCA has produced a lot of quality fighters and Newmai’s success in the Amateur scene is a testament to that.
Mairidin Newmai is set to fight Dushyant Singh in a Bantamweight bout at MFN 14 on 09 March 2024.
Mairidin Newmai talks about his upcoming fight
1) How’s the training going?
Training Camp went well, all by the grace of God. I’m feeling good, confident and looking forward to a good fight.
2) What do you know about your opponent?
I know he (Dusyant) is a strong and durable wrestler.
3) Your opponent Dushyant Singh is coming off of a win over Anthony Syiem, but he had previously lost to your team mate Avizo Lanamai. Did you get any tips from him?
Training with Avizo on a daily basis does give me confidence, but every fight is different and I’m prepared for what unfolds inside the cage.
4) How’s the weight cut going?
Weight Cut has been going smooth, everything is going as planned and as usual, it will be an easy cut for me.

MFN 14: A lot of big match ups
MFN is set to have a grand event on Sat, 09 March 2024. Sanjeet Budhwar will defend his belt against Afghanistan’s Abdul Azim Badakhshi. In addition, the interim Bantamweight title will be up for grabs as Mohammed Farhad will fight India’s Chungreng Koren.
