hakur Stevenson shocked the entire boxing community by announcing his retirement from the sport. A legend in the making, ‘Sugar’ has an extraordinary fighting record of 21-0. Out of the 21 wins,10 of those came by way of knockout. Stevenson went to X (formerly Twitter) to announce his retirement.
“I’m officially retiring from the sport of boxing. I’ll be in the gym forever perfecting my craft and helping the next generation become great and chase they dreams, but I ain’t fw this weak boxing game,” Stevenson wrote on X.

Why is Shakur Stevenson retiring?
Though the reason behind Shakur’s retirement is unclear, fans are trying to speculate some reasons behind it. Shakur Stevenson won off a unanimous decision over Edwin De Los Santos in a fight held last year on 16 November. Despite winning the match, Shakur became the subject of a lot of criticism. He received massive backlash for fighting a “boring” match against Edwin De Los Santos.
Fans criticized Shakur Stevenson for playing it too safe against Edwin De Los Santos and trying to avoid engagement during the fight. Some are also assuming that his decision was influenced by the news of Emanuel Navarrete vs Denys Berinchyk’s fight for the WBO Lightweight title which is vacant at the moment. Shakur Stevenson did not hold back in expressing himself on the matter
“This is sickening… Sh*t is disgusting, my ni**a.” Stevenson wrote.

The entire Combat sports community was in disbelief after Stevenson’s announcing his retirement. Fans went on to comment under the tweet in large numbers
“How am I supposed to sleep without watching a Shakur fight?!???” one fan commented.
“Man you tripping maybe if you stay off social media and in the ring you won’t think like this shit disappointing hearing this off ya tongue Coach Don would be mad ash !!!” another added.
If Shakur Stevenson decided to stay faithful to his words, the boxing community would surely lose one of the biggest talents of the recent era.
