Conor McGregor expressed optimism about pursuing a political career
Conor McGregor has always expressed his love and care for Ireland and holds his Irish identity in the highest regard. And amidst the rising tension back in his home country, owing to the number of unsettling events in Dublin, “The Notorious” has reacted more seriously about joining politics, even stating reasons why he would be a better candidate than the others.
“I am praying that the streets will remain calm and peaceful. We Irish are known for our beautiful hearts, and we have a proud history of not accepting racism,” McGregor had posted on X earlier. “I do strongly believe our leaders must address this issue head-on with serious policy reforms regarding Ireland’s immigration and refugee processes. This is not a time for debate and posturing, our elected leaders must act in the best interest of Ireland’s citizens and our beloved country’s future.”
“Potential competition if I run. Gerry [Adams], 78. Bertie [Ahern]. 75. Enda [Kenny] , 74. Each with unbreakable ties to their individual parties politics. Regardless of what the public outside of their parties feel,” the former UFC Featherweight and Lightweight champion had further noted, naming the competition he may face in politics.
“These parties govern themselves vs govern the people. Or me, 35. Young, active, passionate, fresh skin in the game. I listen. I support. I adapt. I have no affiliation/bias/favouritism toward any party. They would genuinely be held to account regarding the current sway of public feeling. I’d even put it all to vote. There’d be votes every week to make sure. I can fund. It would not be me in power as President, people of Ireland. It would be me and you,” McGregor added.
