It speaks volumes that teen prodigy Johan Ghazali earned a six-figure ONE Championship contract even before getting his driver’s licence.
The Malaysian-American Muay Thai heartthrob is preparing for his return against a veteran in Diego Paez at ONE Fight Night 32 on 7 June.
The Rentap Muaythai Gym star will be back inside Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium – the place that made him a global superstar.
Life hasn’t been the same since his stardom reached a new level courtesy of his epic performances. Handling fame and recognition isn’t easy when you are just 18.
“It isn’t easy, but I learn to cope with it every day,” Ghazali said. “I learn to make the most of my time, and all the roads and the moments from the past give me more experience. I’m better at handling stuff. I’m better at making things go a lot smoother now.”
At just 16 years old, “Jojo” made a stunning ONE debut by knocking out his opponent in just 16 seconds. He earned a life-changing contract after four consecutive victories in the ONE Friday Fights event series.
Since then, he has come a long way, gaining valuable lessons even from his defeats.
“To keep it short, the more I do it, the better I get at handling fame, deals, and everything that comes with my growing career in ONE Championship,” Ghazali said.
One of the biggest breakout stars in the world, Ghazali has lost two of three fights, but those losses have shaped him.
During these tough times, his girlfriend, Queena, has been a pillar of strength for him.
“She’s my biggest fan and my biggest motivational factor,” Ghazali said. “It’s important to be dating someone who can be your rock because sometimes when the world is against you, having a good support system makes it so much easier.”
